Zebra the dog
Its been 3 weeks today that Zeb entered our household. We were told he was a special case when we came to look at him and have since worked out that this must refer to the wind he has!!
Day 1 we had a couple of issues - he widdled in the house once, he jumped up on the kitchen counter once and decided to 'love' (

) the sofa he had assigned to him. Since day 2 he has been near on perfect in the house and has learnt many new commands already. Today he has been checking his new kennel out (its a 6ftx6ft
Gemini Shed) which I will upload images of later.
As you can see he has settled in the house very well - outside he has a few issues with balls but has met a wide range of other dogs (he had a puppy licking his face yesterday and didn't mind)
I'll upload some more images after the initial post

Oh and he can't swim - his bum is too heavy and he goes vertical! - We will be working on that in the summer - if any one sees a grown man fully dressed pulling a dog out of the river it will be me!
We have got him a harness ready for summer so I can wade next to him and hold his body in the water until he gets the idea and can self propell!

Zebra gets his own website...
Zebra the Dog
When he's free he will post more images online but lets face it - chasing balls and meeting new dogs takes up most of his time so updates may be a little sloooow!

Hey Zebra its Sadie here, I'm glad your out of that place even though they were soo good to us at Gables, but theres nothing like having a place to call your own is there! I see your getting your pets in order, its hard trying to teach them how to play, i had a hard time with mine even had put my toys in there laps, before they would thow it for me! and whats this thing about not going to the loo in the house! its much warmer to do it inside, besides they always clean it up fast don't they!
Right got to go, as i've got to try and get my pets to take me out for a walk now, before the wet stuff comes down from the sky!
Talk later
Sadie

We took the hairy monster swimming at the weekend and shock horror - he can swim without sinking..... his Mum stood up to her waist freezing in the sea whilst I stood upto my knees. Hey dont judge me it was cold!
Zeb has now learnt to leave and sit and tonight he even started to hand the ball to mum in exchange for a belly rub!!

Zeb is now sitting for the door to be open and waits to come in and out, also this week he is really starting to understand heel and is walking nicely next to us (occasionally trying to dart ahead)
Found out that this morning I cannot run with him first thing unless I just want to sleep whilst he pulls, he really needs a good session of ball throwing before I can run with him without the fear of my shoulder joint popping out!

We have found out that Zebra likes to sleep resting against something so he now has a new bed....
And the answer to everyones question is
YES we do have a paddling pool in the front room:

We've been teaching the hairy monster the word gentle, which he picked up really quickly when handing him dog treats so our fingers are safe. We are now encouraging him to play fight in the house and bite our hands, so again we can use the gentle word with him; he now can hold your hands very gently and if you shout OOWW (that’s always a strange word to type) to him he immediately lets go.

Taken from Zebras website (he uploaded them - honest) -
Zeb in his new bed
Zeb not giving up his pool just yet
Stretching for his Kong - why bother getting up for the treats?

Zebra has managed to pull a mucsle in one of his front legs so he is taking it very easy, we were a little worried he would be too active but he has taken to gentle strolls instead of his usual maniac way of chasing balls. He is currently lying next to me destroying the new toy we got at tescos (it was reduced!

) and it lasted a whole 3 sconds before he chomped through it - but we knew that would happen and he's having fun.
